A General Memorandum for Academic Cooperation and Exchange, dated 17 May 2007, was concluded between Kyoto University, Japan, and the Faculty of Forestry Science, National University of Laos.
The collected specimens and samples included mammals, birds, Camellia sinensis (tea), and wild edible plants, with a total of 100 specimens collected from villages and local markets in Xiengkhouang Province, Vientiane Province, Vientiane Capital, and Champasak Province.

1. The applicant is required to share the research results and any related publications with the local project partners and the Lao ABS Authority to ensure proper acknowledgment of the resource providers.
2. This permission is granted solely for the specific research project described above.
3. If any further research or experiments involving the genetic resources or their digital sequence information (DSI) are intended for commercial purposes, Kyoto University, Japan, must notify the Lao ABS Authority and the local project partner in advance to establish a new Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) agreement.
4. The applicant is required to acknowledge the country of origin of the genetic resources when generating or using digital sequence information (DSI) derived from those resources.
The collected samples of mammals, birds, Camellia sinensis (tea), and wild edible plants from this research activity shall not be shared with any third party without prior permission from the Lao ABS Authority and the implementing partner in the Lao PDR.
The samples collected under this research activity were studied for species diversity, were not taken out of the Lao PDR, and have been deposited at the Faculty of Forestry Science, National University of Laos.
